Sultry dream

Panda Bear - Tomboy (2011)
album "Person Pitch" was in many czołówkach musically summary statements for 2007. Sometimes it happened that Noah Lennox from his solo project fall out in such rankings, better than its parent band after the recording of Animal Collective "Strawberry Jam". Charm Panda Bear releases third lay in the creative use of a sampler. Over the loping hypnotic motifs hung his slightly mannered, which draws heavily on the Brian Wilson's voice, in addition, Multiplied by rich harmonies and dressed in a space echo. On the solo albums of vocal music is the main instrument - predominantly looms over the rest of the tracks or mysteriously emerges from behind them. In the liner notes to "Person Pitch" Lennox placed, like the first album of The Mothers of Invention, names and teams whose work inspired him with this record. List surprising eclecticism, showing patterns ranging from avant-garde, krautrock and hip-hop, pop, folk, and ambient and house.

On his latest album titled "Tomboy" vain look for traces of the use of a sampler - Lennox admitted that at one point working with him has become tiresome for him. There is no wonder, since the next two years after the release of "Person Pitch" is hard to operate the device with colleagues from the team on the occasion of the recording, "Meriweather Post Pavilion." "Tomboy" originally was scheduled for April 18, but the launch has been accelerated by a week with a view to Record Store Day - an international event, which in our country for now, unfortunately, passes - not to mention the biggest cities - no echo.

Newest absolutely phenomenal album opens with a miniature "You Can Count On Me", driven by the voice of Lennox traditionally been changed by the warm wall of sound chorus and reverb - used harmonies reminiscent of sacred music. Along with "Drone", characterized by a graceful sublimity, completely devoid of pathos and ethereal tawdry "Scheherazade", the track is composed of the great trinity of the disc, emanating an unusual, dreamy atmosphere. It is true that accompanies it all works, but in those three points reaches its climax album. In "Slow Motion" Panda Bear most fully realizes its plan to focus more on rhythm and guitars. It is also probably the only track on the album that contains the point at which you can be traced back loops.

The whole album is imbued with an elusive, stifling atmosphere, which undoubtedly affects the current resident of Lennox, which is Portugal. These songs are perfect for listening to the lazy, unreliable, hot summer sun days - I know something about this, because I just listened to the disc at a time when we received in April, an advertising sample years. By far the most sun dial is the "Surfer's Anthem", which at first approached with caution, as indeed to the adjacent "Last Night At The Jetty," which finally convinced me to his quirky, yet likeable vocals. An interesting example of the voice is also fun, "Friendship Bracelet," Lennox singing tremolo effect when looking through the guitar like The Shadows and fairy backing vocals towards the end.

However, aside from my weakness to the aforementioned trinity, the brightest lights shine the longest track on the album, the "Afterburner". The fastest and most dynamic of the entire disc, thanks to the instrumental part that starts at about the fifth minute, can fit in a hypnotic trance, which is the "Person Pitch" guaranteed "Bro's".

difficult to say and "Tomboy" is an artistic achievement more than "Person Pitch" - the two plates are unique. There are signs that trendotwórcza "family" also Animal Collective in the current decade may prove to be one of the most influential events of independent music.
