Why learn the quirks (1)

I do not like to study for two reasons. First of all - here I am absolutely not the original - because by definition it is not the action belongs to the pleasant. Secondly, I strongly do not like what they tell me to learn in college. Therefore, at some point began to haunt me uncomfortable conviction that the long hours spent on textbooks were lost forever in limbo some sad, is not spent otherwise pleasant. After some time I came to the conclusion that a good way of stripping these dark thoughts may be listening in learning. I've always had problems with concentration, so I decided to let things in such moments as the least absorption, which may provide a soothing background for my agony of hundreds of articles and paragraphs. One of the first albums, which I selected for this experiment was:

Biosphere - Autour de la Lune (2004)
Experiment went only partly - yes, science somehow went forward, at some time turned the page, but a lot of attention was devoted, however, the music, which in its moments of extreme minimalism and peculiar sound turned out to be - contrary to my original assumption - very addictive.

"Autour de la Lune" is the second, after the "Shenzhou", Biosphere album, which will not find cold, arctic sounds, which is mainly associated. In the first case of cutting and gluing pieces of Debussy's not really accounted for my liking - From each album Geir Jenssen is a lot to expect, and this is what most good. However, the present album is a move even more drastic in terms of resources deployed. Many people, not only the uninitiated would not even consider such works as "Vibratoire" or "Circulaire" for the music.

concept album holds together. He wears the same title as the novel of Jules Verne'az 1870, " Around the Moon", which describe the launch of a spacecraft from Earth, its flight around the Moon and safe return. Frenchman's vision became a reality nearly a hundred years later, in 1968, thanks mission Apollo 8. Songs on the album called, just as the various stages, or situations in which there is a spaceship traveling around the moon. All indications are that the names were invented by Verne, because I could not find any professional studies, containing a similar nomenclature.

seems to me that it is easier to create a concept album containing the words. Lyrics can stretch and bend in different ways, so that ultimately you could say that telling a story. However, there is a limit, for which the search for power point, where it is not, is ridiculous. With instrumental music you can afford more in the interpretation of these treatments, but fortunately the case, "Autour de la Lune" need not be applied too generously - music and "history" as a whole, properly defend themselves.

journey begins with a "Translation" ("Transfer") - A composition that is nearly one-third of the entire album. Length of the tracks, their disproportionality, it was the only item that is not compatible with the plot, which created a uprzyjemniania for listening - and start to leave the Earth's atmosphere is longer than the road back from the moon landing together. Even then, in dealing with reconstruction of the sounds on this album a real trip around the Earth satellite. But not one that I know of the relationship with Apollo 8, but lonely, held in silence, disturbed only by the sounds of anachronistic-looking instruments, located in the coarse of the vessel, a native of projects Tsiolkovsky.

"Rotation" ("Rotary") illustrates the orbit around the Earth before firing a group of engines that can achieve escape velocity second rocket . After the ship passes through an old dilapidated station's orbital, where someone listens to music with some strange, distorting sound equipment - the third track, "Modifié" ("Last") This "Ny Battery" Sigur Rós passed through the mysterious filters. It's kind of strange curiosity, perhaps the most mysterious song on the album, which from the outset evokes in me a vision of association with the Mir space station - and its last resident - raised in the film "Armageddon."

next two songs - "Vibratoire" ("oscilating") and "deviation" (Deviation) - describe what is happening or may happen to the ship on its way to the Moon (turbulence in space?). The latter, together with the next, a "Circulaire" start the process of illustrating the encirclement of the Moon, is the strongest, the most minimal and most sonically exciting moment of the plate. The words for anything there is no use at all - you have to hear it.

"disparu" ("Lost"), a fragment in a totally different style than the rest of the album - the ship disappeared, is now on the dark side of the moon, and it is like przerywnik Music, designed to address the listener to the point the vehicle to emerge from behind the satellite. "Inverse" ("Reverse") is a way back, fortunately, already running without any adventure in the style of vibration or deviation. Goes smoothly in "Tombant" ("Falling") and presents the landing phase after finding the ship in the atmosphere. There are emerging themes and familiar sound of 'Translation', which indicates consistency of plan and execution - in either case, when the rocket is in the range of gravity, we hear similar music, which by the way, "going on" more, because Yet on Earth, as opposed to space, sound waves have a raison d'etre. Only the question remains: how to safely land the scrap from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century?
